How to Be Saved
The most important question anyone can ask is, “How can I be saved?” Salvation is found through Jesus Christ alone. No matter your past, your failures, or where you are today, God offers forgiveness, hope, and eternal life through the sacrifice Jesus made for you.
“For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13 (NKJV)
God Loves You
The Gospel means “good news.” Before we understand what Jesus did for us, we need to understand that God created us because He loves us and desires a relationship with us.
- God created us for relationship with Him.
- Sin separates us from God and keeps us from the life He intended for us.
- Jesus died and rose again to save us and make forgiveness possible.
- Salvation is received by grace through faith, not earned through good works.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 (NKJV)
God's love is the reason salvation is possible. The story of salvation begins with a God who loves you enough to provide a way back to Him.
Why Do We Need Salvation?
God created us for a relationship with Him, but every person has chosen to go their own way. The Bible calls this sin. Sin affects every part of our lives and separates us from the God who loves us. The good news is that no one is beyond God’s reach. No matter your past, there is hope through Jesus Christ.
We Have All Sinned
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
No one is excluded. Every person has fallen short of God’s perfect standard and needs His grace.
Sin Separates Us From God
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
Sin has consequences. Left on our own, we cannot repair our broken relationship with God.
Jesus Came to Rescue Us
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8 (NKJV)
God did not leave us without hope. Jesus came to do for us what we could never do for ourselves.
What Did Jesus Do?
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is fully God and fully man. Unlike every other person who has ever lived, Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life. He never sinned, yet He willingly took our place so that we could be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God.
- Jesus lived the sinless life we could not live.
- He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.
- He rose from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death.
- He offers forgiveness, new life, and reconciliation with God to everyone who believes in Him.
Salvation is not found in religion, personal effort, or trying to be good enough. It is found in Jesus Christ alone. Because of what He accomplished through His death and resurrection, anyone can receive forgiveness and eternal life through faith in Him.
Jesus did not come to condemn people who are broken. He came to save, restore, and make new. No matter where you have been or what you have done, there is hope through Jesus Christ.
How Do I Receive Salvation?
Salvation is God's gift. These are not steps to earn salvation, but the biblical response to the grace God offers through Jesus Christ.
Recognize Your Need for God
Admit that sin has separated you from God and that you cannot save yourself.
Believe in Jesus Christ
Trust that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again so that you could be forgiven and receive eternal life.
Turn to God
Repentance means turning from your old way of life and turning toward God in faith and surrender.
Call on the Lord
Place your trust in Jesus Christ and call upon Him for salvation.
Romans 10:9–13
Salvation is not earned by good works. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. God offers forgiveness and new life as a gift to all who trust in His Son.
