CITA Rescue Mission
was founded by Johnny and Helen Ellison. Johnny's heart for the homeless was so large that his life was given to serving those who are mostly neglected or at the worst time in their lives. Johnny would invite these men in and provide a place to stay while aiding them on the road to recovery.
Most importantly of all he would tell them of the good news of Jesus Christ.
The Ellison's hard work paved the way for CITA Rescue Mission to be born in 1969 in a two-story house on the beautiful Indian River. Through Johnny's and Ms. Helen’s witness, countless men have found the Lord and experienced life transformation.
- Johnny served as Executive Director until he went to be with the Lord in 1997.
- Johnny's son Daniel served as Executive Director from 1997 -2013
- Buddy Morrow joined CITA as Executive Director in 2014
- Ms. Helen stayed close to the mission until she passed into the arms of Jesus in 2019.
Today CITA Rescue Mission is located on Johnny Ellison Drive just off US Highway 1 in Melbourne. The two-story dormitory on the mission grounds can house up to 52 men. CITA's core philosophy remains the same today as it was in the beginning....
CHRIST IS THE ANSWER
